Saw this Bald Eagle on the Mt. Baldy Beach just east of Kintzele Ditch on 5/15/23, one day after the Indiana Dunes 2023 Birding Festival ended.
This is the "secret lake"of the Pinhook Bog Upland Trail.

Henry Chandler Cowles who is the father of ecology who started it after 1896. He started it in an area called TAMARACK SWAMP which is called Cowles Bog now. Later the people who named it realized it was a FEN but it takes and act of congress to changed the name. And that is why we have NOT changed the name of the Heron Rookery which is no longer a rooker for Blue Herons as they moved west into Lake County because the dead trees the used for nesting simply fell over, is what I have been taught.
